Kabende Oral Bible Translation (OBT) Project

1. Background
The Kabende Oral Bible Translation (OBT) Project was launched in June 2024 to translate the Holy Scriptures into the Kabende language in an oral format. The project seeks to provide Kabende-speaking communities with access to God's Word in a language they understand best, enabling them to hear, understand, and apply biblical truths in their daily lives.
Many people in Samfya District are primarily oral learners. Written materials alone do not reach all believers. Oral Bible translation enables communities to hear God’s Word in their heart language through storytelling—the same method Jesus used.
The project follows internationally recognized Bible translation standards that ensure the translated Scriptures are accurate, clear, natural, and acceptable to the Kabende-speaking community.

2. Project Goal
  • To provide the Kabende-speaking people with the Word of God in their heart language through accurate and culturally appropriate oral Bible translation.
