1. Background.
The Bible and Literature Translation Association (BILTA) was formally introduced in Isoka District on 22th November 2022. A dedicated team was carefully selected to undertake the humble work of the Lord through translation.
Following the introduction, the team underwent four weeks of intensive training focused on best translation practices. This training equipped them with the necessary skills and strengthened their commitment to the mission.
On 4th December 2022, the program was officially launched and received with warmth and enthusiasm by both the local community and government authorities. This strong support provided the team with courage and motivation to continue faithfully in the noble calling entrusted to them.
2. . Project Goal
- To provide the Tambo-speaking people with the Word of God in their heart language.
- Through accurate and culturally appropriate oral Bible translation
- To promote literacy and scripture engagement in Tambo land.
- Foster Spiritual growth and community transformation.
3. Project Objectives
● Translate the Bible into the Tambo language.
● Produce high-quality oral Scripture recordings.
● Strengthen the Church through access to Scripture in the heart language.
● Preserve and promote the Tambo language.
● Build local capacity in Bible translation.
4. Conclusion
Since its launch, the Tambo Oral Bible Translation Project has made significant progress through the dedication of its sixteen-member team and the support of BiLTA. Key milestones include the completion of draft translations of several New Testament books, with work continuing on the remaining texts.
The project has also advanced through consultant and community checking, ensuring accuracy and clarity, while the drafting of the Book of Acts is approved.
With a steadfast commitment to excellence, the OBT Project aims to deliver high-quality Scripture translations that will serve the Tambo-speaking community for generations to come.
