LAUNCH OF THE SENGA NEW TESTAMENT ORAL BIBLE

THE Bible and Literature Translation Association (BILTA) will officially launch the Senga New Testament Bible to promote viability and vitality. BILTA chairperson Fr Jackson Katete says the launch scheduled for April 8th, 2025, will be a great milestone for the Senga-speaking community who had never had a bible in their own language before.

Fr. Katete, who was speaking during a preparatory meeting ahead of the upcoming launch, urged churches to accommodate people from diverse linguistic backgrounds and to take pride in their inheritance.

He appealed to churches across the country to empower local languages in bible translation. Fr. He emphasized the importance of recognizing and valuing minority languages often spoken in rural areas.

Fr Katete stressed the need for local empowerment in translation rather than relying on external missionaries. He also highlighted the importance of creating music that resonates with local environments and situations.

And Walk in Two Worlds Ethnomusicologist President Douglas Anthony, shared his insights on the significance of music in cultural expression and identity. He stated that the launch of the Senga New Testament Bible marks a significant step towards promoting linguistic diversity and inclusivity in Zambia's religious landscape.

Meanwhile, the BILTA mass choir music director James Sanga expressed gratitude and assured that his team is ready for the upcoming launch. ZANIS
