Three-Day Scripture Engagement Training Concludes

The three-day Scripture Engagement training organized by the Bible Literature and Translation Association (BiLTA) with the support of Faith Comes By Hearing has concluded today.

This training focused on helping individuals engage with the Word of God through regular listening to scriptures in their mother tongue. It aimed to unite churches and foster discipleship within the community.

Faith Comes By Hearing strives to spread the Word of God throughout all communities, allowing it to reach the hearts of individuals and transform their lives. The training began on April 13, 2025, and attracted 55 participants from 26 different churches in the Chama district, as well as attendees from various chiefdoms within the district.

The workshop was led by Mrs. Catherine C. Katete and Mrs. Rhoda P. Mvula, both representing BiLTA.

The trainers emphasized that Scripture Engagement is a program designed for everyone, regardless of their background—be they Christians, non-believers, young, or old. It is not limited to those who cannot read or write; both literate and non-literate individuals come together to listen to the word of God.

One of the participants from the Pentecostal Assemblies of God, Esnart Salimu Ngulube, expressed her gratitude to the organizers for the training, noting its significant benefits. She believes it will enhance their ability to engage effectively with the community by using Proclaimers to spread the word of God, which functions as an audio Bible. Madam Esnart Ngulube encouraged the community to take advantage of the Oral Bible available in their language.

At the end of the training, each participant received a certificate. Additionally, all 26 churches represented in the district were given ten Proclaimers each, and all representatives from chiefdoms received 100 Proclaimers for their chiefdoms.

The Senga translators team in the district has achieved a significant milestone by completing the translation of the New Testament Bible, a project that took six years and began in 2019. The Oral New Testament Bible was officially launched on April 12, 2025, at Chama Boarding Secondary School.
